Performance block is a blanket term that research is trying to propose to replace sport specific terms such as yips, mental block, or lost move syndrome. Though symptoms may present slightly different between the sport specific terms, they all have the same core experience of a sudden inability to perform a previously automatic skill. This study compared performance block prevalence between individual and team sports at PLNU and found similar results. This study also validated many variables believed to contribute to performance block occurrence, regardless of sport type. This supports the use of "performance block" as a blanket term to use for this condition, reducing confusion. The results provide insight to a better understanding of performance block, aiding in discovery of better diagnostic and treatment methods.
