Description / Abstract
Rimicaris variabilis shrimp were collected from hydrothermal vents, possible targets of deep-sea mining, located on a series of underwater volcanoes, named the Mata Volcanoes, in the Lau Basin, near Fiji. Analysis of four microsatellite markers of nuclear DNA showed high gene flow and no population connectivity across any spatial scale.
